The 2026.R1 release of TrendMiner marks a significant step forward in how teams analyze industrial data, manage their underlying infrastructure, and integrate with plant systems. This update focuses on removing visual noise and administrative complexity, allowing operations teams to focus on insights while providing IT teams with the security and control required for modern enterprise environments.
Collapsed Plotting: Focus on the Data That Matters
Industrial instrument data is often noisy, making it challenging to focus solely on the important moments.
What’s new? With Collapsed Plotting, users can now collapse filtered periods on trend and stacked trend plots. This feature "stitches" unfiltered data together seamlessly, while filtered regions are replaced by compact collapsed indicators. The visible data scales to fill the entire chart, making patterns immediately obvious. This noise-free view carries directly into DashHub, ensuring TrendHub View Tiles remain focused and easy to read at a glance.
Why it matters: When filtered periods take up a large portion of a chart, it becomes harder to draw conclusions from the unfiltered portions. By removing these gaps, TrendMiner enables quicker visual deduction and more effective comparisons across long timeframes.
Smarter Context: Precision Tailored to Your Process
As organizations rely more on context data to drive analysis, the need for structured, readable, and dependable information becomes paramount.
What’s new? Administrators now have finer control over how context fields are structured per context type. Improvements include:
- Field Constraints: Mark fields as required or set them to read-only after creation to protect data integrity.
- Visual Precision: Define the number of decimal places for numeric values and control the exact order in which fields appear.
- Documentation: A new optional Description field allows admins to document the purpose of a context item type, which appears in selection dropdowns.
- Enhanced Usability: Field values starting with
http(s)://are now automatically clickable links , and field filters in searches now only show options relevant to the selected context types.
- Conditional Formatting: Formatting defined in a context table view is now also applied in the detail modal.
Why it matters: These enhancements improve legibility and ensure data fidelity by matching existing external systems and protecting "single source of truth" fields. It allows teams to structure data in a familiar way, reducing the time spent searching for pertinent information.
Infrastructure Modernization: Enterprise-Ready Connectivity
The 2026.R1 release introduces foundational improvements to infrastructure, focusing on security, simplicity, and reliable resource management.
Index Storage Visibility
Managing disk space is a constant challenge for IT teams as data banks grow. 2026.R1 introduces tools to monitor and optimize index storage without disrupting analysis. From ConfigHub, administrators can generate a report showing exactly how much disk space index data consumes. The tool allows admins to preview how much space can be recovered by adjusting the index horizon. Crucially, the report identifies which similarity searches would be affected by the change, allowing for informed trade-offs before any data is deleted.
Plant Integrations V5
TrendMiner has fully rebuilt its connectivity layer to simplify how data sources are connected.
- Simpler Deployment: A single installer now handles the entire deployment automatically, removing the dependency on IIS (Internet Information Services) and manual configuration files.
- Enhanced Security: V5 adds support for HTTPS encryption and Basic Authentication, satisfying enterprise level security requirements for communication between systems.
- Centralized Management: All settings are stored centrally, ensuring configurations are preserved during upgrades and reducing setup time.
SMTP Modernization
To meet enterprise security standards, TrendMiner’s SMTP infrastructure has been modernized to ensure reliable email notifications.
- Full Admin Control: Administrators can now configure custom hosts, ports, and authentication/encryption options (SSL/TLS) directly from EdgeManager.
- Provider Compatibility: Out-of-the-box support is now available for major enterprise providers including Amazon SES, Microsoft 365, and Google Workspace.
Why it matters: Infrastructure should be straightforward to operate and ready to scale. These updates reduce "moving parts" and legacy dependencies while ensuring critical alerts and notifications align with organization-wide security policies.
Additional Highlights
- DashHub & Dashboard Enhancements: Scatter Plot legends now expand to show condition details , Value Tiles support custom text labels (e.g., "Idle") with optional numeric hiding , a new "Show unit" toggle is available for Gauge and Value tiles , and embedded dashboards can now automatically start in Live mode.
- Index Management (API): If historian data is reprocessed, admins can now remove specific affected periods from the index so they can be rebuilt without reindexing the entire tag history.
- Work Organizer: A new Folder filter allows users to explicitly include or exclude folders from results to keep their workspace focused.
- ConfigHub Trusted Domains: Settings now accept URL aliases without top-level domains, simplifying integrations such as PI Vision within internal networks.
- MLHub Update: A new Python 3.14 kernel is available for coding notebooks and DashHub tiles.
- Context Webhook: Payloads for context item events now include a deep link to the relevant item in ContextHub for faster navigation.
- Updated Demo Data: New demo tags (TM6*) with updated timestamps are included to improve the sample dataset.
- Canary Connector: Support has been expanded to include Canary Historian 2024 and 2025.
