Company Culture

A vision without a plan is just a dream

A product is more than the sum of its components. Buying a product is also buying from people. People you want to trust that they have built a great product for you. At TrendMiner we are making a new and quite different product in the market. But we also want to be a different company.

The process and manufacturing software market is dominated by large conglomerates. And TrendMiner is a young and agile company. In this program we will show that young companies are more than worth your trust.

JOINT INNOVATION starts from the acknowledgement that a product can only be great if its built together with our customers. And secondly that technological innovation is not designed from scratch in an ivory tower. Research and development is a shared responsibility.

Customer oriented

Over the past years, the sales process has changed dramatically. Today, over 60% of the sales process is done through research before the first contact is made with the company. This information does not necessarily come from your own website or employees but from any type of influencer, be it an existing customer, analyst, journalist or a channel partner. At TrendMiner we’ll provide everyone with as much info as possible.

Secondly an advanced transparent way of communicating with your customers is a prerequisite these days. Gone are the days of single person conversations in a back room. Today we have forums, newsletters and we can even publicly – or anonimized – share what we think of our employers. You’ll see TrendMiner making a lot of effort in making transparent communication a top priority.

Read our full strategy for being as transparent as possible in this blogpost.

Customer oriented

TrendMiner has been in the hands of BETA customers for 18 months. Although our researchers and developers have great ideas, the real value of the product is created by listening to the needs of the users.

At TrendMiner we are taking ‘listening to your customers‘ to a whole new level. Not only do we have a Prototype Program to include our customers from the beginning of the problem description, we also have a unique prototype functionality built into the product. With TrendMiner customers can run new prototype features in the same appliance without any impact for the production environment.

Lowest Barrier
Customer oriented

Have you ever wanted to give feedback to a supplier but could not be bothered with their mandatory procedures? At TrendMiner all barriers of cooperation are stripped to the bare minimum. What do you think of our Doorbell Chat for example? There’s no specially trained Social Media Team behind that or some slick Sales Guy. No, anyone in our company will be able to ‘answer the door’ for you, from janitor to CEO.

There’s removing barriers and then there’s promoting collaboration. In order to motivate our customers to provide feedback we have used the same type of chat technologies within the application to create a direct link between the user and the support team. Furthermore this chat will automatically generate the support tickets without even having to leave the application.

Technology oriented

Researchers and Developers do not become gurus overnight. There is a lot to be learned from technology books but ultimately personal experience trumps books every day. Good developers learn from each other. Reading blogs, joining forums, IRC and SLACK channels or going to a regional technology conference.

At TrendMiner we’re not only following these communities, we promote our engineers to join them and community activity is considered a big plus when we are looking for new talent.

If you are a developer who believes in these values, don’t hesitate to take a look at our open job offers or send us your free application.

Technology oriented

At TrendMiner we recognize that new technology is never developed in a vacuum. There are technologies we rely on, both in hardware and software, and down the road there could be technologies that rely on us as well. Building the right relationships here is a crucial part of making all these technologies play well together.

Data Sources: TrendMiner as an analytics solutions relies heavily on the quality of the data sources and how we can translate them to meaningful information. Today TrendMiner ties into multiple data historians such as OSIsoft PI*, Yokogawa Exaquantum and AspenTech IP21. Of ocurse this list of data sources will grow and you’ll see TrendMiner building partnerships wherever possible, both in industry standards & proprietary connections.

OEM Partnerships: since its inception, TrendMiner has been closely monitored by equipment manufacturers as a potential added value to their services. Both the input and the output of TrendMiner analytics can be customized for and with these partners.

Connected Solutions:  TrendMiner brings a new type of analytics to the industry with its pattern based search algorithms. Sometimes these results can be used for other tools as well such as Business Intelligence reporting tools or monitoring dashboard systems.

Technology oriented

Did you know that our company was founded as a university spin-off? Today, years later, scientific research is still at the core of our company DNA.

Universities & Government: Every year we coordinate several new Master Thesis projects and our own researchers regularly provide lectures. TrendMiner is also a proud member of the Belgian IWT, Agency for Innovation By Science & Technology.

Customer: the university spin-off was just one leg of D square N.V. The other leg was Bayer Material Science, where our founder and CEO, Bert Baeck was a process specialist himself. Today TrendMiner has multiple long-term research projects running with some of our biggest customers.

Open Source: when we need new components for the TrendMiner architecture, we will look to the Open Source community, evaluate all possibilities and see how much we can contribute to make it even better. If we cannot find the fitting Open Source component, we will design our proprietary parts. If possible we will check if we in our turn can Open Source that work.
